Elemental Magic

Please break out your elemental magic to perform, share and discuss at our upcoming meeting, Monday May 7th.   This theme covers a wide range of effects:

AIR – levitation, wind, floating, glitter

FIRE – fire, flash and smoke (please be judicious…no flame cannons, please)

WATER – Multum in Parvo, Rice Bowls, etc

EARTH – most any effects using good solids especially metals, dirt, rock and the such.

Of course, all magics may be shared regardless of theme!  I chose the theme in honor of Earth Day, Spring and my recent battle with the element of air (namely, wind) in putting on shows at two Earth Day events over the weekend.  Winds were so strong and gusty that I had some real difficulties in setting up and performing outdoors.  I hope we can leverage this into conversations so that we can share advice:

AIR – how do  you deal with performances outdoors?  Advice I receive is to keep stage shows with wind-sensitive props indoors and design shows with the right props for street, festival or ren faire settings e.g. in and out of a basket quickly, heavy wait, no table-based set up.  Bring your tips!

FIRE – advice on fire tricks, safety, legality

WATER – bring your rice bowls even if  you don’t want to perform.  I would love to see how your set works and compare to my set.  Same goes for Multum and other water effects.

EARTH – Mac King has a great trick for making a seed grow into a stampling right in the dirt at one’s feet.  Share your effects!
